When we get something wrong, we fix it.
Our commitment
HafidWatch articles are written by AI from published news reports and reviewed by a person. Errors can enter in two ways: the AI can misread or overstate what a report says, or the original report can itself be wrong. In both cases, once we know about an error, we correct it and say that we did.
How we handle corrections
- We correct the article as soon as a factual error is confirmed.
- We add a correction notice at the bottom of the article stating what was changed and the date.
- Spelling, formatting and other small fixes that do not change the meaning are made without a notice.
- When we learn that the outlet we worked from has corrected or retracted its report, we update or remove our article and note why.
- Corrections are made by a person, never by AI.
- We aim to respond to every correction request within 48 hours.
Social media posts
Our posts on Telegram, Discord, LinkedIn, Threads, Facebook and Bluesky are short versions of an article. The article on hafidwatch.com is always the authoritative version. If a social post contains a significant error, we edit it where the platform allows, or delete it and post a correction.
When we remove an article
We prefer correcting an article to deleting it. We remove an article only when it cannot be fixed: the original report was retracted, the article does not meet our editorial standards, or we are legally required to remove it. We do not remove an article to hide an error that has been reported to us.
Articles are not updated as a story develops
Each article reflects what the original report said on the date shown. We do not go back and update articles when a story moves on. Later developments are covered in new articles. A change to an existing article is always a correction, and is marked as one.

What we correct
Factual errors, misattributed quotes, incorrect dates, wrong figures, faulty calculations, claims attributed to the wrong person or organisation, and inaccurate descriptions of events.
What we don’t issue corrections for
Interpretation and differences in judgment. The “HafidWatch Take” at the end of an article is our reading of the reported facts, and disagreeing with it is not an error. If you think a Take is not supported by the facts in the article, tell us. When we agree, we revise it and note the change.
